The MOVE Massacre
The Antiracism Academy presents The MOVE Massacre, a documentary chronicling one of the most egregious examples of police brutality in modern history. On May 13, 1985, the Philadelphia Police Department dropped a bomb on a row home in a Black neighborhood in West Philadelphia, killing 11 people, including 6 adults and 5 children. The adults were members of a Black militant anarcho-primitivist group called MOVE. The police and fire commissioners decided to let the ensuing fire burn out of control, intentionally burning 61 homes to the ground and leaving over 250 people homeless. The Antiracism Academy hopes to raise awareness about this incident--one of the darkest days in American history that most people have never heard of.
